Government of Pakistan has adopted `Health Care for All (HFA)’ persuade as long term national objective. Pakistan being signatory to the UN CRC is committed to improve the health status of its children.

Statistical Profile

  • The annual growth rate is boosting at 2.4/% annually.
  • Infant mortality rate per 1000 is 89.8 with mortality rate under five per 1000 is 126.0.
  • National health network comprises 91823 Doctors, 4175 Dentists, 37623 Nurses, 22528 Paramedics, 5619 LHWs and 93960 hospital beds.
  • Health network particularly for children constitute 5171 basic health units, 531 rural health centres, 856 maternity and child health centres, 4635 dispensaries.
  • U5 Underweight (1995-2000) comprises 38 %. 
  • Access to Drinking Water 90 %.

  • Promotion of primary health care approach.
  • Improvement in health services through out the country both in rural and urban areas.
  • Encouragement of private and community sector involvement.
  • Initiation of effective district health system.

  • Initiation of micro nutrient supplementation and fortification and diversification.

  • Development and expansion of health network with emphasis on district health system.
